The WEA is the largest voluntary sector provider of adult education in the UK. With the help of our 3,000 volunteers, 2,000 tutors and over 60,000 members, the WEA provides high-quality education that gives every adult an opportunity to return to learning.

Since we began in 1903, millions
of adults from across the country
have studied with the WEA. Through education, we have inspired communities, raised aspirations and given the most socially and economically disadvantaged a second and third chance to learn.

Every day, we hear about the difference accessible community learning has made to the lives of individuals and their families. Whether they are learning life skills or taking cultural courses for pleasure, they are an inspiration and their stories show the difference that adult education can make.

And locally…

We’re starting work on a history of the WEA in Loughborough; watch this space! Meanwhile – if you have any thoughts, experiences or stories to share, do please let us know in the WEA office.
